6/16/13 Backcountry and gulf shark fishing in Islamorada Florida Keys

Well summer time is here and that usually means fairly calm weather.  This makes the perfect opportunity for some backcountry shark fishing in Islamorada.  We run a little bit further often this time of year into the gulf of mexico where some of the big boys of the backcountry wait.  Monster bull sharks up to 300 lbs!  We also catch lots of this big goliath grouper this time of year too.  Blacktip sharks also roam about, and of course lemons are usually more back around the flats areas.  If you want to do some florida keys shark fishing then just shoot me an email.  The past week we’ve done two trips into the gulf and caught big bulls both times as well as the goliaths.  We also had cobia and permit as well for smaller game.  The last couple days in the backcountry this week we even encountered ‘mud marlin’ which is NOT uncommon this time of year.  The sharks are good back there too and as stated you have more of a shot at the lemon sharks and such back there which are fun.  We like to catch fresh stuff for live bait such as ladyfish or mullet.  Sometimes we can even arrange to have a cooler of fresh dead stuff to go if sharking is what you really want to focus on the whole time!  It’s a blast catching sharks in islamorada!
